HOW TO ACE CURRENT AFFAIRS AND GK IN CLAT 2025
How to Ace Current Affairs and GK in CLAT 2025
The general knowledge (GK) and current affairs section can
be unpredictable in the CLAT exam since the paper pattern change. In the past
years, the GK section has varied in difficulty. For instance, in 2022, it was
simple and based on mainstream news like Russia Ukraine and Ramsar sites, which
were discussed in the newspaper. However, in 2023, the GK section was not
relevant to mainstream news regularly encountered during newspaper reading.
Nevertheless, the GK section of CLAT 2024 was surprisingly easy, and many
answers were given in the passage asked.
Since the CLAT exam is unpredictable and the GK section even
more so, you should not prioritize GK if you are weak in the remaining four
sections. Instead, focus on improving your remaining subjects. Even if you only
have 15-30 days for CLAT, you can still complete the essential and most
highlighted topics. Once you have your remaining subjects covered, you can then
focus on how to ace the GK section.
·
Newspaper: The most crucial resource for
CLAT preparation, as it improves not only GK and current affairs but also
English and reading speed. Follow important news from the front page, national
page and international page. Make detailed notes of critical issues and add
static facts related to that topic.
·
Compendium: Refer to a reliable source
such as Clat Express or Clat Post. These compendiums are prepared from a CLAT
point of view and have relevant information for the CLAT exam.
·
Online resources: If you have read the
newspaper and compendium, you can search about current affairs online from
different sources like Drishti IAS, GKToday, etc.
·
Make notes: Although you may have online
PDF notes, handwritten notes remain in your memory for a longer time. Thus, try
to make concise notes of important and relevant topics.
·
Revise regularly: All you have studied
will come to zero, if you do not revise regularly. Revise daily, weekly, and
monthly. Revision is the key to acing GK. Do not go for more resources for GK
but ensure that you are done with the resources you have and remember the topics
you have studied. Remember, quality is more important than quantity.
If you follow these five steps, then you can expect that if
you do not know the answer to any question in the GK section of CLAT, 95% of
the candidates also dont know the answer either. This is because you have
already covered major and minor topics, and if CLAT asks any irrelevant
questions, it will be irrelevant for everyone.
Extra tips:
·
Whenever you encounter any unfamiliar topic in
mock tests, take note of it and research it. Add it to your notes.
·
Divide your topics into categories like most
important (***), important (**), and less important (*). You can use stars to
indicate their importance. This will save you time while revising and give you
an idea of which topics you need to pay more attention to.
Best of luck!
